Regional Meeting –
11/26/2005
Hamburg, NY
Loretta Baugh convened the meeting at 1:45 PM on Sunday,
11/26/2005. She explained that the
purpose of the meeting was to discuss the CFA Centennial Cup Challenge and the
Region’s financial reports.
CFA Centennial Cup Challenge
The Centennial Cup Challenge (CCC) is a competition to draw
attention to the celebration of CFA’s 100th year. CCC will be held for each Region and the
International Division. The competition
is for Championship, Premiership, Kitten and Agility participants. Any CFA registered cat or kitten may
participated in the competition. A
participant may only enter one judging category, but they may also enter
agility. Points will be accumulated at
the 10 shows that have been designated as CCC Shows. The winner in each category will have the
highest accumulation of points in Region IV.
Scores will be derived from accumulation of points the same way CFA
currently scores Regional and National Winners.
The Agility competition will be scored at all shows in the Region that
host an Agility Competition.
Loretta met with a group of exhibitors to discuss the
selection of shows that would be designated as Centennial Cup Challenge
shows. It was agreed that the
competition in Region IV would begin in January 2006 and consist of 10 shows
between January 7th and April 30th. A
primary objective was to select non-campaign shows.

The rules for Participation are:
- Points are accumulated by participation at the
Centennial Celebration Challenge (CCC) designated shows within the
exhibitor's region of record only.
- Points shall be accumulated by show rather than by
Ring. All the points received in every ring of a specific CCC show will be
considered the total points for that show. Points counting toward the
Centennial Celebration Challenge shall be from only such designated shows
and shall only be recorded in the region of record. Points earned at
designated shows outside the region of record shall not count toward the
Centennial Celebration Challenge. None of the scoring of the Centennial
Celebration Challenge will in any way affect the points earned toward
Regional/National or any other awards. At the completion of the Centennial
Celebration Challenge designated shows for the 2005-2006 show season, a
cat/kitten will be credited with the points from all its Centennial
Celebration Challenge shows.
- Designated shows shall take place between Dec. 1,
2005 and April 30, 2006.
- The Championship and Premiership series of shows
shall consist of 10 shows total for each region, 2 per month, for the 7
regions in the mainland US and Canada. The Championship and Premiership
series shall be 4 shows total for Region 8 and the International Division.
- The Kitten series shall be any of the 10 specified
regional shows, or any of the 4 for Japan and International Division, that
fall within the 4 to 8 month time frame for a kitten.
- The Agility series shall be any show within the
region of record that hosts Agility competition.
- Any CFA Registered Championship Cat, Premiership Cat
or Kitten shall be eligible for competition.
- Exhibitors must declare their intention to
participate in order to be scored for the CCC.
- Exhibitors in the Championship or Premiership categories
may compete in any or all of the designated shows in their region of
record to be eligible for scoring.
- Exhibitors in the Kittens category may compete in any
or all of the designated shows in their region of record during the time
the kitten is 4 months of age until 8 months of age.
- Only the cumulative points from the ten (10)
specified CCC shows within the region of record shall be used to determine
the winner in the US mainland and Canada.
- Agility Competition Exhibitors in the US mainland and
Canada, Japan or International Division may compete in any or all shows
within their region of record for scoring that hold Agility competition.
The winner will be determined by the fastest time on record in the region
of record.
- Only the cumulative points from the four (4) CCC
shows within the region of residence shall be used to determine the winner
in Japan and the International Division.
- A participant may compete in only one category of
judging: Championship, Premiership or Kittens. However, a participant may
also compete in Agility in addition to the other specified category.
- The winner in each category shall be determined after
the final CCC designated show of the 2005-2006 show season. The results
will be tabulated to determine the highest cumulative score for each
category for each region.
- The awards for each category shall be presented at
each Regional Awards Banquet.
- Winners in each region will be announced on or before
May 15, 2006.
- After the CCC Regional winners are announced all
members of CFA and the public will have an opportunity to vote for the
Centennial Celebration Challenge Best of the Best - CFA Cat Idol. Only the
CCC Regional Winners in each category shall qualify to participate in the
voting.
- Voting will be done on-line with an Official Ballot.
Each ballot must clearly specify which cat gets the vote. You may only
name one cat per ballot. Ballots must be received by June 10, 2006 to be
tabulated.
- All Regional CCC Winners are encouraged to
participate in the 2006 CFA Annual Awards Banquet where the cat with the
highest number of votes will be named Centennial Celebration Challenge
Best of the Best - CFA Cat Idol winner. A presentation will be made with a
special award given to the winner.
Exhibitors must declare their intention to participate in
order to be scored for the CCC.
Declaration forms for the competition can be done online at the CFA
Website.
Treasurer’s Semi-Annual Report
Chris Simpson handed out the Semi-Annual report. Chris reported that our treasury has increased
over 39% since August 2004. Region IV
fundraising activities have been very successful and the Regional events have
been financial successes. Most notably
the Ace 50/50 has generated significant
revenue since May 2004. The Ace
50/50 is designated for the 2008 Annual.
The semi-annual report is being provided to each on the club
secretaries. If you have any questions
contact Chris Simpson or Chuck Gradowski for additional information.
Chris asked that exhibitors volunteer to work the Ace 50/50
when they know they will be attending a show.
Also, remember to coordinate with the club’s show manager.
Catalog Fliers
Marg Baird reported that clubs are not sending their show
fliers to her. Marg can not provide show
giving clubs with copies of your fliers unless you send them to her.
Budgets for the 2006 Award Show and the 2008 Annual
Loretta wanted to remind committee chairperson that they
need to work on their budgets for the Award show and Annual. Budgets are required for all Region sponsored
events.
NEXT Regional Meeting
The next Regional Meeting will be held during the weekend of
January 14/15th in conjunction with the Mid-Michigan Cat Fanciers show in
Maumee, Ohio.
